For Starweave, the offline constellation app for Android
Starweave keeps your sky and shows it to nobody. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting, nothing to buy, no Android permissions and no network connection — the constellations you draw, the names you give them and the stories you write stay in one file on your own handset.
Starweave is made and published by BG Dent Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, which releases its apps under the name EchoMeadow Interactive. Where data protection law refers to a data controller, that company is it — a role with nothing to administer, because the app collects nothing.

Naming a constellation and writing its myth means typing something personal into a box, and people write about people: a name, a date, someone they miss. That text is treated as yours in the strictest sense. It is saved only in the app's own private storage on the handset, it is never transmitted, never backed up to a server of ours, never analysed and never read by us — there is no mechanism in the app by which it could be.
Nothing you write is checked, filtered or sent anywhere for moderation, because nothing you write ever leaves the phone to be moderated. Your sky has an audience of one.

Nothing in it identifies you unless you type your own name into a story — and if you do, that text stays exactly where the rest of it does. No email address, contacts, photos, location, advertising identifier or device identifier is involved at any point.
Android can include an app's private files in the device backup that Google Drive makes for your handset, if you have that switched on in your Android settings. That backup belongs to you and is encrypted with your device credentials; we have no access to it and no way to request it. If you would rather your sky existed in exactly one place, turn app backup off for Starweave in Android settings — the app itself does not sync anything, ever.
Each star answers with a soft tone generated by the app as you connect it. Nothing is recorded, no microphone is involved and no permission is needed — the app produces sound, it never listens.
No advertising library, so nothing interrupts a session and no advertising profile is built from your use. No analytics library and no crash reporter, so no usage events, session logs or crash traces leave the handset — we do not know how many constellations you have drawn or when you last opened the app. No billing library, so no star pack, palette or extra slot is for sale and no payment data exists. No account, no sharing feature, no gallery of other people's skies.
Starweave requests no Android runtime permissions: not camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage or notifications.
None. Everything is drawn and stored on the device, so the app opens no connection to our servers or anyone else's and behaves identically in aeroplane mode. Nothing leaves the handset to be intercepted, and nothing arrives that could change how it behaves after installation.
Installing or updating Starweave is a transaction between you and Google, handled under Google's own privacy policy and its agreement with you. What reaches us is the aggregated, anonymous developer console view — installs, ratings, country totals — which identifies nobody.
If a future version ever touches the network, this page is rewritten before that version is published and the change stated plainly.
Drawing shapes in the stars and making up stories about them is a good use of a phone at any age. Since nothing is collected from anyone, nothing is collected from children, and there are no adverts, no chat, no sharing, no links out and nothing to buy. Nothing a child writes in the app is visible to anybody else.
The fields you draw on are invented by the app to be pleasant to join up. Starweave is a creative toy, not an astronomical chart, and its skies do not correspond to the real one above you.
Under the UK GDPR, and the EU GDPR where it applies to you, you have rights of access, correction, erasure and portability over personal data a company holds about you, and a right to complain to a supervisory authority. None of yours is held here, so there is nothing for us to send, correct or delete — we will confirm that in writing if it is useful.
Your constellations are removed by deleting them in the app, clearing the app's data in Android settings, or uninstalling Starweave. Do check your Android backup setting as described above if you want them gone everywhere.
Complaints can go to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though writing to us first is usually quicker.
This page is updated only when the app changes in a way that affects privacy, and the date near the top changes with it. Builds already installed keep behaving exactly as described.
